Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to refresh your car keys. You can pick from a range of colors and styles to find one that best fits your style. They can be installed by yourself in ten minutes. You'll need an electric screwdriver and a bit of patience. The first step is to remove the cover that was originally installed. This has to be removed before the new cover can be put in place.
After removing the old cover, you can use a flathead for prying the four main attachment clips off the passenger side of fob assembly. These are marked with red in the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots, which are yellow, that must be removed as well.
After taking the battery off, replace it with a brand new 3 volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery is aligned to the opening of the fob, and that the"-" negative side is facing the buttons made of rubber.
Reattach the passenger-side mirror cover by aligning the locating tabs. Once you've completed this, put the driver side fob back in your vehicle and test it by pressing the button on the front of the car key. If everything is working properly the parking lights will be turned on and the doors will automatically lock.

After you remove the metal keys, you will find a small silver metal switch that displays images of a padlock both locked and unlocked beside it. This is the battery switch for the key fob. It is easy to change the battery by turning the switch a quarter turn with a small flathead screwsdriver.
The key fob houses a microchip that communicates with the Body Control Module. When you insert the key in your Fiat vehicle, it presses an ignition switch, which functions as an "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM will then read the transponder on the key fob to verify that it is valid.
